I am the waters of Odysseus,
I have gathered around Crete,
I have washed the shores of Eripus,
I have kissed Rome’s bloody feet.
I danced around Peloponnesus,
I sat amid the earth,
With the names of many nations,
At the place where life gave birth.
I held the secrets of eternity,
I fed the nations of my shores,
Witnessed clear-watered Greek romances
And bloody desperate wars.
I am a fluid sardine soup
Of bold ingredients, diverse,
A vibrant brooch on earth’s great coat,
A golden prize filled purse.
