Fantastical beasts

I found my way through a jungle of sameness,

Only to realise the journey had been pointless,

Only to realise the quest had been aimless,

But at least i learnt that life wasn’t painless.

Although I lined my fanciful table with fabulous feasts

I could never quite capture those fantastical beasts.

After all my journeying to be better than the rest

It turned out I was below average at the very best,

And all of my right answers were luckily guessed

But at least I got that fear off of my chest.

Although I lined my fanciful table with fabulous feasts

I could never quite capture those fantastical beasts.

So I’m just another individual in a sea of black shirts,

And another dare devil dreamer who with destiny flirts,

Another one who around the real issue skirts,

And wonders why every morning, the waking hurts.

Although I lined my fanciful table with fabulous feasts,

I could never quite capture those fantastical beasts.

Now, it takes more and more tattoos to be ahead of the game,

All the while that I am different, I look just the same,

I am an individual, or so that I would claim,

That I’m no different from the rest, is my real shame.

Although I lined my fanciful table with fabulous feasts

I could never quite capture those fantastical beasts.

    1. I’m glad you like it. It was a hard prompt to get my head around. My goal is to try and get as far away from the prompt title, you know… .not be too obvious…. and see if I can create something that makes sense.
      Glad you liked it.
