I know you, you devilish dark and alluring night
You’ve taken me on quests and lead me astray
Only to have me taunted and ridiculed
And punished by the obscene and audacious day.
I know you. You have sat me in the city light
You have passed me through the lonely lanes
To venues locked or sold or stolen
To loud cries, dark sobs and bone chilled pains.
I know you, you thief, you blackened witch
You’ve had me gleefully grace a game of chance
And charged the glass and called to drink it all
And the lover lost and his love lost to romance.
I know you, you sarcastic, narcissistic night.
Your promise of entanglement lasting and long
Then as sunrise offers out his extended hand
You have left me, gone before the final song.
I enjoyed this poem immensely, such great imagery.

Interesting. Never read such a version of ‘night’ before.
