Sunday afternoon

I wake up early Monday morning
Check the news and make some tea
The week is starting with some yawning
Now, everything is up to me

The daughters up and she moves slow
She still somewhere in sleepy land
I sit with her and watch the time go
She plays with fingers on my hand

The open window looks out to your star and to the moon
The end takes away too far and way too soon
I think about you from July to June
Who will I talk to Sunday afternoon

My mind wonders and I’m dreaming
It doesn’t feel so very long
I spend my days alone redeeming
Wishing against all my wrong

There is so much I’d love to tell you
Of how she loves to sing and dance
And all the things that she gets up to
And now I just don’t get the chance

The open window looks out to your star and to the moon
The end takes away too far and way too soon
I think about you from July to June
Who will I talk to Sunday afternoon

Its Monday morning and I kiss my wife
The daughter and I wave her goodbye
Its just another moment in our life
The simplest things still make me cry

The week goes by and so does all the time
The daughter is growing every day
The reason is balanced with a perfect rhyme
Nothing that moves can ever stay

The open window looks out to your star and to the moon
The end takes away too far and way too soon
I think about you from July to June
Who will I talk to Sunday afternoon
