Lucy Blue – the loneliness song

The train is leaving town now

Just as day begins,

I’ve been playing in a long-game

A long-game no one wins.

I’m sitting facing backwards

Staring at the day

And now it’s raining on the window

Trying to wash my sins away.

Keep this train rolling

Keep it rolling straight and true

In the reflection in the window  – I can see

The face of Lucy Blue

The landscape keeps on changing

I see nothing that I like

There’s the sunshine and thunder

The mountain’s lightning strike

Sit me forward facing

I see nothing that is new

In the reflection in the window  – I can see

The face of Lucy Blue

Get me know-where right on schedule

Across the desert in the sun

When I reach my destination

I’ll know I’ve just begun

Reflections keep bending

The light keeps pushing through

In the reflection in the window  – I can see

The face of Lucy Blue

Let me down slowly

I wish my memories were few

In the reflection in the window  – I can see

The face of Lucy Blue

The train is leaving town now

Just as day begins…
